About

Mitch Borchardt is a Fox Valley–based saxophonist, composer, and arranger originally from Milwaukee. He earned his master’s degree in jazz studies from Bowling Green State University, where he studied under David Bixler.

After returning to Wisconsin, Borchardt established himself as a versatile freelance and studio musician, performing with many of Milwaukee’s big bands, including Swing Explosion and the All Star Superband. Known by colleagues and audiences alike as a thoughtful soloist with a warm, expressive sound, he brings intention and clarity to every performance.

Today, he can be heard with groups such as Platinum, The Big Band Reunion, Water City Jazz Orchestra, the Jazz Orgy, Exo-Blu Collective and other collaborative projects across the Fox Valley and beyond.

Mitch is available as a sideman, sub and session saxophonist, and as a clinician for school and community jazz programs. He also takes composition and arranging commissions. Get in touch →
